Here's an updated version of an American classic. While the Shakers used mortise-and tenon joinery; this table is made with biscuits. The Shakers hand-dovetailed their drawers; you can use a dovetail jig. The Shakers planed their wood by hand; for this table you machine all the parts and then give them a few licks with a hand plane. In fact, if you've never planed wood by handbefore, this project is a great way to get started. Also included: A special section with tips and tricks for bandsawing the delicately tapered legs.
