The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts has an impressive collection of furniture, textiles, paintings and much more. But on a recent visit from Popular Woodworking we were looking for secrets. To be exact, secret compartments! Many early American pieces included hidden compartments for important documents and valuables. Finding these compartments is lots of fun and takes a practiced eye to recognize the signs that indicate a hidden compartment.
